Vintage Bakelite Radio Brought Back to Light

At Restoration Lighting Gallery, we love to take a family heirloom or special treasure and turn it into a light that will shine forever. From old cameras, wine bottles to musical instruments, motorcycle accessories, sporting equipment and even shoes, we can make a light out of almost anything. Our expert craftsmen have 60 years of combined experience and have made a reputation for themselves by creating lighting from keepsakes, personal objects and family heirlooms.

We love taking a piece of history and bringing it back to light. We converted and restored this Circa 1940 Bakelite radio into a functional table lamp. This radio lamp includes the original lit dial and a beautiful dark finish.

Bakelite is a form of early plastic developed in 1907. It was used for its electrical nonconductivity and heat-resistant properties in electrical insulators, radio and telephone casings. The Bakelite style radio was very popular in the 40’s and 50’s.

This authentic piece makes for a perfect table lamp and is sure to be a conversation starter. Own a piece of history today.
