Keeping Your “Nest” Safe & Secure

On Wednesday, May 25, Connecticut Lighting’s Vice President, Todd Director, appeared as a guest on CT Style to discuss the Nest Home Security System.

What is Nest?

Nest Home Security is a Wi-Fi system that revolves around thermostat, cameras and CO/smoke detectors. You can pick and choose whether you want one, two or all three of the features, as they can all be individually installed. You also have access on your phone at all times to view the cameras or adjust temperature settings.

Features

The camera senses every instance of motion and automatically sends a notification or email alert to your connected phone. It is an intuitive system, as the smoke detector can recognize the difference between smoke and steam and the thermostat fluctuates between heat and A/C depending on your settings, without your manual intervention.

Save Energy

While you’re away from home, you can view your energy history on your phone to see how long your heat and air conditioning ran throughout the day and adjust your run times accordingly. Nest also learns your habits, such as when you and your family members leave your house, through the feature called auto-away mode.
