The Benefits of Motorized Window Shades

On Monday, July 25, Todd Director, the Vice President of Connecticut Lighting Centers, appeared on WGGB TV’s Western Mass News to discuss motorized window shades. At our showrooms, we carry Lutron® battery-powered roller shades. With automated window shades, you can take the guesswork out of lifting and lowering.

Why Do We Carry Motorized Shades?

Many people wonder why a lighting store would sell window shades. Over the years at Connecticut Lighting Centers, we have expanded our services to include home automation. If you’re controlling your lights with dimmers, why not regulate other features of your home? We have a partnership with Lutron®, who has created the best motorized shades on the market.

How Do They Work?

Lutron® battery-operated window shades can be controlled from a remote control or an app on your smartphone. The app allows you to enable certain settings, like a sun sensor, that will automatically raise or lower your shades based on the amount of sun shining through. They move up and down fast, and have a virtually silent motor.

Are Motorized Shades Easy to Install?

We have professionals on staff who will come to your house and measure your windows to be fit for shades. If you have an unconventionally shaped or sized window, we consider every job to be custom – there is no “standard” window size for Lutron® shades. In two to four weeks, you can expect to have motorized shades installed in your home for less than $500.
